Something to be LEARNED from EVERY Person

I work with children who have autism, behavior issues, etc. Recently, as I was helping feed one of my students, it got me thinking...not of how sad I was for this little one, not of how remarkable he was in the things he is so well able to do in spite of his challenges...no, not even of the struggle at times to communicate with this young lad. ( picture is not of this boy to protect identity)

                                                     toothless grin looks like this

I was thinking about the EXAMPLE to me he was setting!

You see, this little guy can only eat a tiny bit of food at a time because he doesn't have teeth. My husband also lacks dentia to grind foods easily. This got me thinking about my own weight loss goals.

Since people who struggle with challenges LOATHE being pitied or having everything done for them, I decided to abide by those wishes and find out the meta message being shown to me through this student.

In order to chew and swallow food, he "takes small bites."

So, I got to pondering...maybe I am BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW of LIFE, and yes, of FOOD! Starting yesterday, I began cutting back on how much I was "chewing" and really LOOKING AT the AMOUNT of food I was taking in. I took one turkey hot dog and chopped it up, eating one little BITE at a time! Amazingly, I did NOT go for a second one!

I ate 1 granola bar out of the package of 2 and yes, bite by bite I ate it SLOWLY!

We have heard from diet experts to SLOW DOWN AND CHEW YOUR FOOD AND LET THE MESSAGE GET TO YOUR HEAD THAT YOU ARE FULL!  But, this little boy TAUGHT ME, SHOWED ME, DEMONSTRATED TO ME just what that LOOKS like!

Now, I will continue to APPLY and HOPEFULLY REACH MY GOAL!

Try it! And TY to that little one for just doing what he does with a huge smile and dimples on his face while he continues to show just what he is made of!

Roseanne

Graduation Day!

It was a beautiful day yesterday!

My youngest daughter graduated!

It was an eventful day too! My daughters and I could not locate their dad...did he come to the ceremony? Did he get busy with work and forget? Was he here already? Where WAS he? We called him, texted him and tried to listen to hear him shouting as Amber walked down the aisle to her seat. Nope, no Roland yet!

The ceremony went on as planned, my daughter proudly received her well-earned diploma, and we couldnt' have been more proud of her! Still, no dad.

Finally, the ceremony ended and Roland walks up to us and explains how he picked a seat but couldn't find his daughters. He told us how he got in tons of peoples' pictures accidentally (sure) while trying to find a seat. He is quite a character sometimes! Here's that moment!

Once we all gathered to take pics near the building, my eldest daughter almost stepped on a little creature that was blending in with the dirt and nest she was sitting in, defensively guarding its inhabitants. What joined us???  Amazing to see this right in the middle of a huge, noisy crowd of people!

Would YOU have been able to see her?

The day ended up being wonderful with some awesome, memorable moments and photos like these!

We capped off the special day with a trip to Golden Corral! My ex paid for me to eat which was wonderful and kind of him!

It was a fabulous time and I'm blessed that I got to be part of it!
